Beware of Medicare Advertising
It’s ridiculous how much insurance companies advertise Medicare insurance offerings. They must really make a lot of money. Primarily the advertising is for Medicare Advantage (Part C) insurance. Medicare Advantage is private insurance that separates your Medicare insurance from Original Medicare. Your healthcare services will not be approved and paid for by Medicare Part A or Part B. It will be paid by the Medicare Advantage private insurer.
When researching Medicare plans, do yourself a favor, if possible, and go to the Medicare and Social Security websites on the Internet. There is a lot of information and you should take your time.
If you are not comfortable getting this information online through the Internet, then you can call the main Social Security office (1-800-772-1213), or schedule an appointment to visit in person at your local office. You can go online to get the address and phone number of your local office or you can call the main Social Security office to get that information. Please be patient, you may have to wait on hold for a while and any appointments may be scheduled weeks into the future.
